England’s biggest bookmaker says it is taking actions against executives in charge of its Tel Aviv online gambling support center for wrongly telling employees they were being relocated to Gibraltar.

Headlines were made this week when more than 200 employees walked out after reports surfaced that the Tel Aviv office would be shut down.  William Hill dispatched a team of senior executives to help quell concerns.

A statement issued by the firm noted that: ‘Several other senior managers in Tel Aviv are now subject to disciplinary actions in relation to the disruption this week within the marketing business in Tel Aviv, and in the customer service and back office operations in Manila and Bulgaria.’

Shares of William Hill fell 5 per cent on Tuesday following concerns that the Internet arm of the company could be negatively impacted.

William Hill was forced to issue the following statement on Tuesday:

‘William Hill Online is committed to its sales and marketing operations in Tel Aviv and contrary to media reports has no intention of relocating this operation.’

William Hill’s Internet gambling arm has been among the most successful in the UK bookmaking sector,  with 24 per cent growth in net revenue recorded in 2010.
