The Dutchman accused of killing Peruvian college student Stephany Flores will stand trial beginning tomorrow (January 6, 2012).

Joran van der Sloot met Flores in a Lima casino while attending the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) in May of 2010.  He was also the prime suspect in the murder of an Alabama High School graduate, Natalie Holloway, five years prior on the island of Aruba.

Van der Sloot could ultimately be extradited to the US as he is facing fraud and wire charges after allegedly attempting to extort money from Hollaway’s mother in 2010.

Van der Sloot was indicted by a Birmingham grand jury after taking money from Holloway’s mother in exchange for information about what had happened to Natalee.  The feds concluded that no information was ever obtained.
