Turmoil at PokerStars as CEO is Out

Gabi Campos is out as CEO of PokerStars.  Campos joined the world’s largest real cash online poker company in 2010.

This marks the fourth major executive shakeup at Stars since the company was named in an April 15, 2011 indictment.  Two of its top executives were charged with money laundering and bank fraud.

Pokerati.com, which broke the story on Campos’ departure, also noted that his executive profile on Linkedin no longer mentions PokerStars as either a past or present employer.

Pokerati.com took note of the previous high profile executive departures.

First to be disappeared (amid some controversy) was veteran EPT Tournament Director Thomas Kremser in May; then last month, EPT founder John Duthie left. And now supposedly Jeffrey Haas, top dog at Global Poker Tours Limited (parent company for PokerStars live events) has been, er … moved on. (Haas’s LinkedIn page lists GPTL as “Past” … and “Director of New Platforms, Mobile & Social Gaming for Pokerstars.com” as current — sounds like “big-money suit demoted to glorified blogger” to me, but hey!)

Stars, despite having to exit the US market last April, still thrives worldwide and continues its reign as the largest “real money” online poker room by a rather large margin.  The company has paid back all US players owed monies.
