PokerStars Thread on TwoPlusTwo Gets Over 300,000 Views in Just 12 Hours
What started off as an unsubstantiated post from someone who had never taken part in the popular TwoPlusTwo.com posting forum, ended up with more than 300,000 views in a matter of just 12 hours along with 1855 replies.
By the time late morning rolled around, some of what was posted began to have legs especially in light of additional confirmed news associated with the subject matter.
“PokerStars has reached an agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice to buy Full Tilt Poker” was all that anyone needed to read.
And the substance of the post:
The things I heard:
* All players will be refunded 100%
* Both sites back online
* Both sites have promotions
* Employees remain in both places
Expect more news today.
And that we did.
By late afternoon, PokerStars issued a statement that they could not say much, though they most certainly could have denied such a story.
The US Justice Department had froze accounts of both Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars last April, forcing both companies out of the US market. Executives from both FTP and Stars were indicted for bank fraud in connection with alleged disguising of online gambling transactions.
Stars, unlike Full Tilt Poker, paid its customers back in full within weeks of the indictment being handed down. FTP is yet to do so.
One member of the TwoPlusTwo.com posting forum summed it up best:
