The Revolution Gaming Network is just barely 24 hours old yet it still managed to bypass the most trafficked US-facing online poker network, Merge, as of Friday morning.

At 9:30 am ET, Revolution had 585 cash players while Merge had 526.  The 24-hour peak was showing Merge a few hundred greater than the Revolution Gaming Network at 1826 compared to 1489 for Revolution.  The later site has barely been up for more than 24 hours with many customers still coming on board throughout the day.

The Revolution Gaming Network is essentially a rebranding of the Cake Network but now includes powerful Lock Poker, which will oversee the new enterprise.  Lock had been on the Merge Network up until late Wednesday.

Sources close to Gambling911.com had suggested that Lock Poker represented nearly 40 percent of the business on Merge before investing in the creation of its own network.  Those numbers could prove to be accurate based on initial observations.  Lock and Cake will operate independently on the network with both card rooms offering unique promos.  Lock announced a $1 million dollar rake chase, 36 percent rakeback, and a 200 percent online poker bonus for qualified new customers up to $2000.  Lock was offering a limited time only $4000 cash “welcome” bonus for all customers.

Cake Poker released its May 2012 online poker promotions Thursday.   In addition to a revamped online tournament schedule with increased prize pools that will also be offered up by Lock, Cake is is setting up mirror poker tournaments for football fans. Gold Champs 2012, a $30,000 Gold Card tournament series, lets players use Gold Cards of all suits from two up to get seats in one of four Euro 2012 Group Finals through daily satellites. Each group final offers a $5,000 cash prize pool and also advances the top 50 players into the $10,000 Gold Champ Final.
