Wynn Resorts Applies for Nevada Online Poker License: In Talks With Zynga
Wynn Resorts has applied for an online poker license in the state of Nevada this week, possibly signaling the entry of Zynga into the real money poker arena in the United States.
Wynn had entered into a partnership with PokerStars just weeks before that company was indicted by the US Justice Department last year. It immediately pulled out of that arrangement.
Wynn is widely believed to be in talks with Zynga to deliver the “real cash” online poker platform. Zynga itself has not applied for a license in Nevada.
The Silver State became the first to legalize Internet poker at the state level. It has no plans to offer “real money” play beyond Nevada’s borders until federal legislation is passed, however, Nevada may eventually enter into multi-state compacts similar to that of the state lottery system’s Powerball game.
Two companies, Bally Technologies and International Gaming Technologies, were granted licenses by the Nevada Gaming Board last week.
