Excitement was brewing at the 2012 World Series of Poker heading into Wednesday as poker great Phil Ivey led with chips at the Event #24:  Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better.

A total of 27 players were returning to this event Wednesday afternoon.

Some of the big names taking part in Day 2, but falling short of the money included the Mizrachi brothers Michael and Rob, Allen Bari, John Racener, Phil Hellmuth, and Jason Mercier early on. David Bach, Justin Smith, Carlos Mortensen, Todd Brunson, and Mike Sexton followed later in the day. 

Ivey is shooting for his 9th World Series of Poker bracelet in an effort to keep pace with fellow pro Phil Hellmuth, who managed to win his record 12th this week.
