Woods plan of attack will be to go aggressive.

“The game plan is different," Woods told reporters Tuesday. "I have got to hit a few more drivers and 3-woods than I did [when he won his third and last Open title at Hoylake in 2006]. At Hoylake on the downwind holes, I was hitting 3- and 4-irons 300 yards at times just because it was playing fast and blowing.

“But this is different. It’s much wetter and the bunkers are staggered differently here. There are some forced carries where you have to force it and then stop it or try and skirt it past them. You can’t just lay up or bomb it over the top. There has to be some shape to your shots.”

Lee Westwood and Luke Donald each had the next shortest odds with a potential payout of US$140 for every US$10 bet.

Donald’s goal is to control his emotions.

"I think the remedy has to come from me," Donald said. "It's taken a bit of time for that to drop, that thought to drop, because I just have been getting a little bit too uptight and anxious. It's a very normal mode to switch into because the pressure is that much more. You want it that much more."

Westwood, meanwhile, is looking for his first Major win. For a brief moment last year, Westwood ranked as the world’s number one.

“I think I’ve gotten more relaxed and just sort of played and let the cards fall where they may, really,” Westwood said. “I don’t find myself pressing particularly harder.

“I know my game is good enough to win when I play well enough, play with everything together. So that’s what I try to do.”
