London Olympics Fencing odds were available for the women’s team to win the gold medal with Italy coming in as the -250 favorite at BetOnline here.
Olympic fencing is one of five sports featured in every one of the modern Olympic games.
Italy’s favorite status comes just as Elisa Di Francisca won the gold in fencing’s individual foil at the London Olympics on Saturday, beating Arianna Errigo 12-11 in extra time of an all-Italian final
“This is very emotional for me,” Di Francisca said. “The final was very, very difficult. I went from ‘I want to win’ to ‘I don’t want to win’ to ‘I want to win.’ I was just afraid of winning. Errigo is a very strong player and we both know each other so well.”
