Athlon.com notes

After three offseasons of work, GM Buddy Nix says it’s time for the Bills to become “relevant" again. And he means for an entire season, not two months.

Buffalo deserves kudos for addressing their defensive shortcomings. Landing Williams with a $100 million contract re-energized the fan base, and taking a cornerback No. 1 in the draft was widely applauded as a sound move. Offensively, money was spent freely to retain the services of core players Johnson, Chandler, Kraig Urbik and Chad Rinehart. But wide receiver depth and left tackle remain areas of concern, unless rookie picks Graham and Glenn make instant impacts.

Buffalo wasn’t that far from being a .500 team a year ago, and if it can avoid the injury bug that took down 17 players, including seven starters, and if Fitzpatrick can justify his contract and stay in one piece, the Bills might flirt with a wild card spot into December.

Some pundits have gone as far as to predict Buffalo will finish 2nd in the AFC East in 2012.  Their odds of winning with 7/1, however, New England is seen as almost a “sure thing” to win the AFC East at -500 or 1/5 odds

Getting back to the Bills 2012 regular season wins total betting odds, let’s review the schedule below.

Buffalo Bills 2012 Schedule:

Week 1: at New York Jets
Week 2: Kansas City
Week 3: at Cleveland
Week 4: New England
Week 5: at San Francisco
Week 6: at Arizona
Week 7: Tennessee
Week 8: BYE
Week 9: at Houston
Week 10: at New England
Week 11: Miami (Thurs.)
Week 12: at Indianapolis
Week 13: Jacksonville
Week 14: St. Louis
Week 15: Seattle (in Toronto)
Week 16: at Miami
Week 17: New York Jets

Assuming the above and this team is even slightly improved over last season, the Bills should be able to win at home against Kansas City, Tennessee, Miami, Jacksonville, St. Louis and Seattle.  Depending on how the season turns out, a final week win over the Jets is quite possible as well.  Already, we have 7 very possible wins.

In fact, Buffalo has an opportunity to go on an absolute tear the final 7 weeks of 2012 with St. Louis and Seattle potentially playing under especially frigid conditions.  Miami may already be out of the running by Week 16.

Buffalo can win in Cleveland.  They actually have a shot at 10 wins this season so the OVER 8 at -130 does have value, we at Gambling911.com believe.
