The New York Giants were an absolutely ridiculous 18/1 odds long shot to win the 2013 Super Bowl despite being the reigning champions.  The folks at WagerWeb.com, along with other online bookmakers, don’t even have the Giants winning the NFC East.  That honor goes to the Philadelphia Eagles, though both teams paid slightly better than EVEN odds at the time this was published – August 13, 2012.

There was some good news for the Giants on Monday as it was revealed that star wide receiver Hakeem Nicks would be re-activated a little bit before the initial 12-week recovery period forecast by the team.

Nicks suffered a broken foot back on May 24 and has returned to practice 11 weeks and four days after sustaining the injury.

“I’m very excited about that,” Nicks said in quotes released by the team. “They’re letting me know that by the beginning of next week I can start doing some stuff with the team; some individual and stuff like that. They still want me to take it slow and be smart about it. But I feel good about being out there progressing myself with the team slowly but surely.”

Nicks, who had his second straight 1,000 + yard receiving season in 2011, was listed around 12/1 odds to have the most receiving yards in 2012.

While Gambling911.com has been bullish on the Browns over the past two weeks, action was balanced on this one with the line only moving up a half point over the course of the week, making this game less attractive in terms of a glaring "must bet" situation.
