The San Francisco 49ers odds to win the 2013 Super Bowl were listed at 10/1 at WagerWeb.com for a payout potential of $1000 on every $100 bet (likewise a $10 bet could potentially pay out $100).
This price will probably stay intact unless the 49ers manage an early upset against the Green Bay Packers in Week 1 on the road. If that happens, expect oddsmakers to immediately slash their odds of winning the 2013 Super Bowl quite possibly in half or to around 6/1. Gambling911.com suggests jumping on this 10/1 price early.
There’s good reason to get down on the 49ers to win the 2013 Super Bowl or at least an NFC Championship that would pay out $450 for every $100 bet or $45 for every $10 bet. This is a team that only lost three regular season games in 2011 and they return most of the key pieces including head coach Jim Harbaugh.

That’s not to say the 49ers haven’t had to endure a few critical losses, especially where the defense is concerned. Ccornerback Shawntae Spencer, safety Reggie Smith and linebacker Blake Constanzo are gone. The good news for the league’s number 4 defense is that Pro Bowlers Dashon Gholston (safety) and Carlos Rodgers (cornerback) have been re-signed. The additions of wideouts Mario Manningham and Randy Moss can’t hurt either.
Oddsmakers actually have San Francisco winning UNDER 10 regular season games at -140 while the OVER pays out slightly better than EVEN odds.
The reason for the oddsmakers leaning towards the UNDER has everything to do with the 49ers brutal schedule. San Francisco opens their season in Green Bay while future visits include the Meadowlands playing the New York Jets, New England and the New Orleans Saints. San Fran’s stopover in New England comes towards the end of the year where frigid temperatures and snow will only add to the jetlag compounded by play against what is typically the NFL’s Super Bowl favorite.
When one considers that the verdict is still out on both the Jets and Saints (their head coach Sean Payton is suspended for the upcoming season), this 49ers team is one that can conceivably end up with a 14-2 record. That of course would place them in a very good position for a Super Bowl run.
