Nebraska vs. UCLA Line at -5 With Cornhuskers Spread Seeing 80 Percent of Betting Action

When looking at the Nebraska vs. UCLA line it is interesting to note that this one hasn’t moved an inch since opening at Cornhuskers-5.  Interesting because 80 percent of those betting the spread were backing Nebraska.  It should be noted that most of the Vegas bookmakers have the line on this game at -5.5.

Needless-to-say, the bookmakers will want UCLA to cover here in a very big way.

Nebraska's junior quarterback Taylor Martinez has tended to perform inconsistently in his freshman year and continued struggling as a junior.  The Cornhuskers have high hopes for Martinez after Week 1’s win over Southern Mississippi where Martinez his Week 1 numbers included 354 yards throwing and five touchdowns.

Likewise, the Cornhuskers defense is expected to improve dramatically in 2012 led by senior defensive lineman Baker Steinkuhler and senior linebacker Will Compton.

There are no recent head-to-head stats for this game.

The Cornhuskers are 4-9 Against The Spread in their last 13 games following a Straight Up win.  Compare that with the Bruins who are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games following a S.U. win.

When making a play on this game, take a long hard look at how the oddsmakers are reacting to the amount of action coming in on Nebraska.  They are NOT reacting, which suggests they have a strong opinion on UCLA to cover here.  The bookies have been winning over the past week with strong opinions against Michigan State (who failed to cover vs. Boise State), Penn State and on Wednesday night against the New York Giants.
