Tony Bryant of BetOnline believes the Titans can pull the upset, and, indeed, the online bookmakers will be hoping for that upset since New England is the single most wagered on team in Week 1 of the new NFL season.

“When veterans size up this game, they're going to pound home the Super Bowl angle. The "Super Bowl angle" is this: In the NFL, teams very rarely make back-to-back Super Bowls; the year after reaching the "Big Game" is difficult for most franchises. The last team to make back-to-back Super Bowl appearances, in fact, was New England… in the 2004 season. The last team before that was the Denver Broncos in the 1998 season. The sport of professional football is just too relentlessly physical these days. Teams that play into February find it very hard to find enough physical and mental fuel for the following campaign. The shortened offseason leaves teams spent and more prone to injury. This is the cycle of things in modern NFL football.

“New England is in a vulnerable position in this game, and as long as Tennessee's young starting quarterback, Jake Locker, can make sound reads against a subpar New England secondary, the Titans can score 30 points and force the Patriots to kick a few more field goals than they'd like. Tennessee can win a 30-27 game and move to 1-0 on the season.”

New England has destroyed Tennessee in their last two meetings from 2006 and 2009, respectively.  Both teams have played remarkably well Against The Spread during the month of September.

In a road game where the total is between 45.5 and 49 points, New England has managed to go 6-0 ATS over the past three seasons.

In road games, the Patriots have gone OVER in 12 of 16 games.  The total on this game is 47.
