Snow Job: ‘New’ Owners of Defunct Online Poker Room Purple Lounge Speak Out for

The “new” management of Media Corporation, parent company of the now defunct online poker site Purple Lounge, have spoken out for the first time about the long established Web card room’s closure.

In an interview with InfoPowa, Management admitted that the handling of Purple Lounge’s closure has not been particular smooth.

“... it became clear very quickly that there was no option but to close the operation due to the financial and operational failings of the past.”

Those words will offer little comfort to the countless number of customers owed monies since Purple Lounge shut its doors earlier in the summer.

While a liquidator has been appointed to oversee the asset allocation, their efforts will only help creditors, not players.

Management may be speaking for the first time in an effort to ward off possible legal action from players by insisting they are not responsible for Purple Lounge’s ultimate demise.

“To be clear, we know a small group of players have outstanding balances of over $10,000, some of whom are assessing their position, though any claim we believe would be against Purple Lounge and former Purple Lounge Directors and Management.”

The “new” management also attempted half-heartedly to appease whomever in regard to any of the “old” management’s possible wrongdoings, pointing specifically at former Directors Jason and John Drummond.

“If there has been any wrongdoing the new management team will be supportive of any action to bring wrongdoers into account.”

There was apparently no mention of the alleged wrong doings perpetrated by one time Non-Executive Director Chris Gorman.

His wife, Mary Gorman, 43, was charged last summer with performing oral sex on an unknown man during a hip hop event at the Roxy Club in Orlando, outside of Disney World, while her husband watched.  Chris, 44, was also taken into custody and charged with resisting arrest.  Those charges were later dropped.   The couple was on a family vacation at the time.  Their two small children were reportedly left back at their hotel room under adult supervision.

Mrs. Gorman was also charged with drug possession and assault on a police officer.

Initially Ms. Gorman, who is one half of a power couple said to be worth £45 million, was permitted to clean toilets for a year as part of a community service deal that would have seen her avoid trial.  A judge then rejected that deal.

Ontario Online Poker Would Include Foreign Players

Ontario's position is that Ontario players would be under the umbrella of their local regulatory regime, but their rivals in the U.S., Europe, and elsewhere would be under the oversight of those jurisdictions.

Can I Use Bitcoin to Bet Sports Online From Oregon?

Oregon's only regulated sportsbook is Draftkings as the official sports betting partner of the Oregon Lottery.  But there are still options for betting with Bitcoin and wagering on college sports, something you can't do with DraftKings here.
