The International Stadiums Poker Tour (ISPT) has been scaled back and might not even happen at all, according to organizers.

$30m guaranteed became €20m guaranteed then €20m expected and now ISPT marketing boss Georges Djen says the tournament will not happen at all unless 15,000 players sign up for the Main Event.
At least 15,000 players must come, otherwise the tournament won’t take place,” he said. “But we could guarantee that this will [be] the hugest tournament in the world in terms of the participants. A maximum of 30,000 players could play.
To date, only 3300 people have reportedly signed up for the May 2013 event.
The word “guarantee” was removed from the ISPT website last week.
If all does go according to plan, the event is slated to feature players from around the globe who will play from the stands of Wembley Stadium online. The field will then dwindle down to a specified number who will play live.
Big name players Sam Trickett, Patrik Antonius and Michael Mizrachi have signed on as ambassadors of the event thus far.
One cannot help but be worried that the ISPT has some of the same makings as last year’s equally overhyped poker tournament debacle, the Epic Poker League, primarily centered on perceived mismanagement and overreaching.
We’ll just have to wait and see.
