GOP US Presidential candidate Mitt Romney is reportedly pulling out of North Carolina under the premise that they have essentially won the state.  Oddsmakers and gamblers seem to agree with odds now at 1/6 at Sportsbook.com.  In the world of odds, this is essentially a “lock”.

"With the increasingly widening polls in North Carolina, we will continue to allocate resources, including key senior staff, to other states," Romney spokesman Michael Levoff told The News & Observer in Raleigh.

Most of these resources are expected to move to Ohio, where odds still favored US President Barack Obama at 1/2.

North Carolina isn’t the only state where the odds now favor Romney.

While the Tar Heel State has always been in the Romney column, Florida, which previously had the two candidates at EVEN odds, has Obama as a 2/1 underdog.  These are the longest odds yet we have seen for this critical swing state.

Virginia was also slightly favoring Romney as was Colorado.

Pennsylvania, Nevada, Wisconsin and Iowa each had Obama with better than 1/3 odds of winning the election next month while Michigan had completely pulled away with odds of 1/10.  Romney would pay 6/1 odds in this state.

The 2012 US Presidential elections is expected to bring in the most betting volume of any nonsporting event in history.
