Dallas Cowboys vs. Carolina Panthers - There are a handful of technical factors worth noting, not the least of which is the fact that the underdog side has covered in the first five Carolina games this season.  And, despite last week’s close loss (and cover) for Dallas at Baltimore, keep in mind that the Cowboys have been a pretty good money-burner lately, just 7-16-1 vs. the spread their last 24 on the board.  The star helmets are also 'under' 14-8-1 since late in the 2010 campaign.

While anytime Dallas sits under .500 causes a bit of a stir, we suggest the bigger disappointment among these two in 2012 are the Panthers, who have already dug themselves a hole too deep to dig out from in the NFC South race and soon reaching the point of no return in the NFC wild card race.

Simply, Carolina has looked bad on too many occasions, with deep flaws in offensive execution and play-calling.  Part of the shortcomings can be blamed upon 2nd-year QB Cam Newton, not having nearly the positive impact as he did as a rookie winner a year ago.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans - Coach Gary Kubiak’s team suffered its own huge injury two weeks ago versus the Jets when linebacker Brian Cushing (knee) was lost for the year. He’s a leader of the defense, like Lewis for Baltimore, and his absence was really obvious last week versus the Packers (427 total yards).

Houston’s offense (28.8 PPG, ranked fifth) is explosive with Matt Schaub and the passing attack, plus the running of Arian Foster. Foster will be angry after being held to 29 yards on 17 carries last week, and will be going against the league’s 26th ranked run defense (136.5 YPG). Schaub will also be testing the depleted secondary early and often.

Note the ‘over’ is 4-1 in Houston’s last five home games (2-1 this year).

This is a revenge tilt for Houston who lost two games at Baltimore last season, including 20-13 (as 7½-point underdogs) in the playoffs. Both games went ‘under’ the total.

A win Sunday would go a long way in making sure a playoff meeting this year would be in the Lone Star State.
