Yesterday's game of the Falcons vs Cowboys having a late cover caused affiliates to loose millions. The late cover resulted in several sportsbooks in Vegas and online seeing the biggest single day loss they have seen for over 8 years. On the other hand this was a day of celebration for thousands of NFL bettors. Sadly the joy is not shared by the bookies who took the big hit.

According to SportingNews.com ‘“This could rival one of the worst Sundays we’ve ever had since I’ve been running a book,” said Osborne, a 25-year veteran of running books for Michael Gaughan’s properties.

What made the sportsbooks take the hit was the big parlay cards laid out on the game. The only game we won on was the Panthers beating the Redskins. It was pretty much Murphy’s law all day. On average sportsbooks lost 7 out of the 8 early games. A great day for the sports bettor, however a horrible day for the sportsbook.

As a result of yesterday’s action several affiliates saw their revenue-share accounts take a big dip into negative commissions. It is early on in the month so we can only hope and pray the next few weekends brings good fortune to the house.
