CARSON CITY (Associated Press) — State officials say Nevada gambling revenues were up more than 3 percent in September compared with the same month a year ago. The Nevada Gaming Control Board reports a gambling win of $893 million for September.

Officials also say casino revenues for July through September are up almost 6 percent compared with the same quarter in 2011.

Las Vegas Strip revenues of $497 million in September were up 1.2 percent, while downtown was up 6 percent. Reno revenues of $49 million were up almost one percent, while South Lake Tahoe's $18 million win was up 5 percent.

State officials say they saw a big jump in tax revenue collected off the winnings. The state's takeaway amounted to $71 million, which is a 38 percent year-over-year jump.
