Poker Pro Doyle Brunson: ‘Cancer Removed From Shoulder in Under Two Minutes’
Great news poker fans as the beloved ‘Godfather of Poker’ Doyle Brunson is poised to live another 100 years.
Gambling911.com readers became deeply concerned upon learning that Brunson had tweeted regarding surgery to remove a squamous cell malignancy.
The 79-year-old Brunson wrote on his blog Monday evening:
I didn’t mean to start such an uproar about my tweet on twitter that I had a cancer removed from my shoulder. It was a simple in house procedure that took about two minutes. The cancer was a squamous cell malignancy that is very slow spreading and almost never life threatening. The most common cause is a lot of exposure to the sun. But I sure did enjoy all those years of playing golf:-). I do appreciate all the get well tweets, calls, and e-mails.
This is the 4th time that Brunson has been diagnosed with cancer. He was first diagnosed in 1962, the same year his wife became pregnant with their daughter Doyla. A tumor was discovered in Doyle's neck and surgeons originally ruled that the cancer had spread and declared it incurable. Nevertheless, surgeons decided to remove the tumor so that Brunson would live long enough to see the birth of his child. After the operation, no trace of the cancer could be found. Brunson credits a faith healer for the miraculous recovery.
