A bill to legalize online poker in the state of California was reintroduced by State Sen. Roderick Wright (D-Los Angeles).
SB 51 would allow for five year licenses to be handed out to Indian Tribes, poker clubs, horse racing associations and others.
Wright has presented similar bills since 2009, none of which made it through to the Senate committee.
Tribal casino operators still expressed frustration over the current draft legislation.
"It gives no nod to Indian sovereignty or to our current exclusivity," David Quintana, political director for the alliance, stated in an interview with the LA Times. "I think that bill is going to have to be dramatically changed to move forward."
