The upcoming Online Super Series II in January might see some big names at the tables, including 3-time champion MamaCool. The poker player has done it again by performing the ultimate hat trick at Americas Cardroom for the third month in a row. He earned the top spot in The Beast, Americas Cardroom's monthly points race.
The online poker player defeated The Beast in December and received $13,650 in extra cash plus a seat in a $75,000 Guaranteed event, just for playing online poker. The player mentioned that the prize arrived just in time for Americas Cardroom's Online Super Series II starting January 13th.
"After conquering The Beast leaderboard competition in October and November, MamaCoolJ ended the year with a third straight victory under his belt," stated Americas Cardroom spokesperson Michael Harris. "This is not only a milestone month for MamaCoolJ, but it's also a big deal for Americas Cardroom. A total of $226,545.81 were awarded in tournament prizes and $690,351.19 in cash prizes for a grand total of $916,897 to close the year 2012. And that's only 6 months worth of rewards since we first launched The Beast in July of 2012"
With over 17,000 points separating 2nd place performer mbolt1 from the first place spot, a 3rd victory was claimed by MamaCoolJ. According to Harris, MamaCoolJ has played over 800,000 hands in the last three months alone.
The Beast is Americas Cardroom's progressive points race that's funded entirely through the poker site's jackpot tables, using players' shared jackpot contribution money. At the end of each month, the prize pool in The Beast is distributed to players who rank on The Beast leaderboard.
Anyone who sits down at a cash table marked Jackpot automatically becomes part of The Beast competition by earning points through participation in a raked hand. While more points are earned at higher stake levels, everyone participating in the same raked hand earns the same number of points—regardless of how much rake they contributed to the pot.
MamaCoolJ is one of the 574 poker players who shared in The Beast's more than $176,000 cash and tournament prize pool for December. The prize pool included over $134,000 in cash and more than $41,000 in seats to Americas Cardroom's signature $75k Guaranteed Beast Tournament, set to take place on January 13th at 6:00pm ET during the Online Super Series.
The $1 million guaranteed online poker series features 82 events spread out over two weeks. The series will culminate in a $200,000 guaranteed tournament, with $75k, $100k, and $150k tournaments thrown into the mix, too. The series also includes leaderboard competitions with extra prizes on the line for the top performers in the series. OSS II runs from January 13th through January 27th.
