Regulated online gambling in the state of New Jersey will help protect children, so says the Poker Players Alliance.
Various groups have come out to express support for Web gambling in the state including Atlantic City’s biggest union.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has until the end of Thursday (February 7) to either sign off on or veto a bill that would all the state’s under 9 million population and those visiting to play casino games, including poker, on the Net. New Jersey is also considering multi-state compacts and quite possibly allowing international player pools.
Should Christie fail to act, the bill would automatically become law on Friday. The New Jersey Governor vetoed a similar bill nearly two years ago within hours of the looming 45 day deadline.
The reincarnated legislation was rewritten to address Christie’s previous concerns, however, the Governor has still expressed apprehension over the potential for increased gambling addiction.
