Poker Maximus IV got started yesterday and after three very successful go-arounds in 2012, the first day of PM IV in 2013 was an exciting one. Here’s how it wrapped up.

Event #1: $60,000 Guaranteed NLH Freezout – ($200+15 buy-in)

PM IV started with the biggest event of Day 1 as the $200+15 buy-in attracted 300 players fighting for their share of the $60K. In the end it came down to whyurazemeboo and cantbeatyou66 for the championship and nearly $14K in prize money.

These two had been going at it for a while when cantbeatyou66 who was first to act, put in a min-raise with pocket 8’s. After getting re-raised, cantbeatyou66 bumped up the pot again, and after a call, the flop came down 9c,5c,6d. Whyurazemeboo was holding Jh,6h and with second pair he had to figure he had a good chance of ending the tournament right here. The turn card was the 9h and after another check, cantbeatyou66 shoved all-in. Whyurazemeboo called with his pair of 6’s and saw the bad news when his opponent flipped over the 8’s. But when the Jd came on the river, whyurazemeboo jumped into the lead and took down the first event of PM IV.

1 whyurazemeboo $13800.00; 2 cantbeatyou66 $9420.00; 3 DustyMcStax $6000.00; 4 glock229 $4500.00; 5 XVengeanceX $3660.00; 6 HemiRacer426 $3000.00; 7 glookin21 $2340.00; 8 JinxyCatt $1740.00; 9 IBEX53 $1320.00

Event #2: $15,000 Guaranteed NLH Freezeout – ($10+1 buy-in)

The smaller $10 buy-in events always attract large fields and this one was no different as nearly 2000 players entered Event #2. It was w1n3v3rS and zColdz that outlasted the entire field and battled heads-up for the 1st place prize of over $3100.

When the eventual final hand came around w1n3v3rS got Ac,Kd and shoved all-in. These two did not like playing post-flop that much and with the blinds growing all the time, it was at that point where they had to draw a line in the sand. That’s exactly what zColdz did, calling the all-in bet with his 7h,Kc. The board blanked both players (6s,6d,2d,5h,Ts) and w1n3v3rS’s big slick held up for the win.

1 w1n3v3rS $3134.29; 2 zColdz $2336.41; 3 iliaivic11 $1752.31; 4 BigBallsack $1265.56; 5 noitall6111 $934.57; 6 HomelessDude $739.87; 7 checkaflop79 $545.17; 8 Dekildy $350.47; 9 kellyred $272.59

Event #3: $40,000 Guaranteed NLH Freezeout – 6 Max – ($100+9 buy-in)

This $100 buy-in event had 460 entrants meaning that the top 48 finishers earned some sort of cash. It was the final table where you wanted to be to make some serious money and it was Sophiasdream and Galauska that outlasted them all and battled for the $9400 1st place prize.

When what was the final hand came as Sophiasdream had pocket Jacks, threw in a pre-flop raise and had a decision to make after Galauska re-raised. Sophiasdream knew the time was now to make a push and re-popped it, only to call Galauska’s all-in re-raise seconds later. Galauska was holding Ac,Qd and the race was on.

The flop came 2d,Ah,7d, and Galauska had gotten once of those aces that he needed. The turn and river were the 6c and 7s respectively, giving Galauska the title and 1st place prize money of $9400.

Final table results:

1 Galauska $9430.00; 2 Sophiasdream $6900.00; 3 MrcASHgrinder27511 $5152.00; 4 keegemma $3588.00; 5 aMagicMike13 $2599.00; 6 Hessefest $1633.00

Remember, this was just Day 1 of the 11-day Poker Maximus IV tournament series and there is plenty of great action still to come. Starting at 19:00 server time tonight there are three more PM IV events going: A $15K guaranteed PLO8, $40K guaranteed No Limit Hold’em and a $25K guaranteed No Limit Hold’em rebuy event. Make sure you don’t miss out on these great tournaments.
