Lock Poker is the latest online site to begin partitioning (or segregating) players.  In other words they are separating the so-called “fish” from the high stakes players, also known as “sharks” on the other smaller sharks rooms.

A Lock Poker representative tells Gambling911.com in an exclusive interview that these changes were necessary, and it has absolutely nothing to do with liquidity issues, as some have speculated.

"We segregated because we need to protect our recreational player base," the rep said.

Win/Loss and Shark/Fish ratio fines have been longstanding on a number of poker networks including iPoker and Lock Poker.  Quite a few have since begun segregating or discouraging high stakes action entirely.

Lock Poker’s new policy is aimed to ensure that Lock tables  remains soft and that encourages more recreational players and, as such, improves the overall player experience.

Lock Poker is investing aggressively in new acquisition with sites that are targeting recreational players. Based on the fact that Revolution does not have a criteria in place for the partner sites Lock had no choice but to make these changes.

Gambling911.com was also informed that new payment processing options will be available starting next month (March 2013) for Lock Poker VIP players, including bank wires and checks with much higher limits
