Cates, Duhamel and Sam Trickett each earned automatic seats into the final table of this event.

The Maryland native has enjoyed much of his success online where cash game earnings at both Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars total nearly $7 million. In 2010 alone, he won over $5 million and became the biggest online winner.

Last week, Cates made headlines when he called out fellow online poker phenom Tom "Durrrr" Dwan for failing to move forward with a challenge he started back in 2010 in which Cates got the best of him.
