Urijah Faber (27-6) vs. Scott Jorgensen (14-6)

Sportsbook.ag Line: Faber -525, Jorgensen +375

Headlining the 17th edition of The Ultimate Fighter Finale, bantamweights Urijah Faber and Scott Jorgensen will come to blows in the Octagon on Saturday night in Las Vegas.

Faber is among the elite in the bantamweight class, having done everything but claim the UFC title. A former WEC featherweight champ, he has earned himself two title shots at the UFC level but lost to Dominick Cruz and Renan Barao. Jorgensen is coming off a 1st-round submission victory of John Albert, but lost his two previous fights to Eddie Wineland and Barao. Faber beat Wineland back in 2011 in a unanimous decision. But what gives Jorgensen a shot in this one is that he is a more well-rounded fighter who isn’t so reliant on submissions to earn the victory.

The 33-year-old Faber most recently beat Ivan Menjivar on Feb. 23 in a Round 1 submission, before which was his loss to Barao. Prior to that he submitted Brian Bowles in the second round. The theme with him is that he can really struggle against an opponent who defends well against the submission. Fifteen of his 27 career victories have been submissions. Jorgensen’s only loss via submission was his first career one, all the way back in 2006. "The California Kid" Faber’s strong takedowns are what make him so dangerous, and they let him set up his submissions, but he may have to be more flexible with his attack plan in this one.

"Young Guns" Jorgensen’s past three victories have come three ways: submission, unanimous decision and a KO (punches). Of his 14 career wins, seven are decisions, five are submissions and two are knockouts. An incredible wrestler who is always in top-notch shape, the 30-year-old should be able to combat Faber’s takedown game effectively. This should also be key for him in dealing with his height disadvantage, where at 5-foot-4 he cedes two inches to Faber. Jorgensen may be looking to take this one to the judges, but he should be able to earn plenty of points from them with his aggressive style of competing.
