Caesars Interactive Entertainment is the latest company to apply for an online gambling license in the state of New Jersey.

Caesars Entertainment operates the World Series of Poker and currently holds an Internet poker license in Nevada.  But the Silver State only has around 3 million people living there compared to New Jersey’s nearly 9 million along with the other couple million just across both rivers in New York City and Philadelphia.  New Jersey will permit anyone to access licensed online gambling sites provided they are physically located inside the state.

“Poker requires liquidity,” Caesars Interactive spokesperson Seth Palansky told the Atlantic City Press. “You need to get a lot of players playing.”

Meanwhile, the Rational Group, parent company of PokerStars, applied for a gaming license last week in its bid to take over the Atlantic Club Casino and Hotel.
