Eight men involved in a Saginaw Township, Michigan high stakes poker game testified against Quintel A. West this week.

West is accused of fatally shooting Michael Kuhlman, who was hosting the poker game at his home.  West and an accomplice were attempting to enter the home, according to the witnesses.  When Kuhlman placed his weight against the door to try and prevent the two men from entering, he was shot through the door.  The bullet entered his lung.

Some of the poker players testified Thursday, while the remainder testified Friday. While each had different perspectives depending on where they were sitting at the poker table and where they ended up after the incident began, the main story stayed the same: that the men tried to enter the home, at least one gunshot was fired into the door and others at those who fled out of the rear of the home, and that Kuhlman was robbed of the money that the players gave him to play that night — possibly as much as $5,000.

Kuhlman's best friend, Brian Call, testified that he knew West, who was Kuhlman's cocaine dealer and sold Kuhlman cocaine sometime between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. that night. Call said he talked to West that night about possibly joining a future poker game.

West remains jailed without bond.
