PokerStars EPT 10 Season Schedule Unveiled
MONTE CARLO, MONACO – PokerStars, the world’s largest poker site, announced the European Poker Tour Season 10 schedule today, with a total of eight events, starting with the ever-popular EPT Barcelona opening event scheduled to take place from August 28 to September 7.
The tour will then head to London, Prague, the Bahamas for the PokerStars Carribean Adventure, Deauville, Berlin, Sanremo, and finally Monaco for the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino European Poker Tour Grand Final. The biggest change to the schedule is the timing of the London and Sanremo events, which move back to their previous dates in October and April.
“Players at the EPT will see that we have made a deliberate decision to focus on stability,” said. EPT President Edgar Stuchly. “During a successful Season 9 where we decided to host fewer and bigger events incorporating the national tours, we listened to an enormous amount of player feedback who valued less time spent travelling, and more time spent playing. Since the Sanremo tournament will be held immediately before the EPT Grand Final in April, it will mean players can spend the whole month of April on the beautiful Riviera.”
Regional tours partnerships to continue
In Season 9, the EPT took the step of reducing the number of scheduled stops from 13 to eight – turning these events in to true poker festivals by partnering with regional tours such as the Estrellas Poker Tour and the UK & Ireland Poker Tour. This has given players more tournaments to compete in, and a greater variety of buy-ins.
The change proved to be a massive success from the very first stop. Both the Estrellas Poker Tour and the EPT Barcelona Main Events smashed all previous records for player numbers and prize pool. It was a trend that was repeated again in Prague and Berlin with both festivals enjoying record numbers of players.
Season 10 High Roller action
Another successful Season 9 innovation, which will continue in Season 10, is the provision of more High Roller events at each stop. There will be a €10,000/£10,000 High Roller at Barcelona, London, Prague, Deauville, Berlin and Sanremo, plus €50,000/£50,000 events in Barcelona and London. The PCA and Grand Finals will have a $25,000/€25,000 High Roller and $100,000/€100,000 Super High Roller included within their schedules.
Team PokerStars Pro, and regular at the High Roller tables, Daniel Negreanu said: "Really excited to see all of the top EPT stops back for Season 10 and I think this is the best schedule yet with several big festivals planned, which is great for those making the trip overseas. It really gives players bang for their buck with all of the side events available at each stop."
Season 10 satellite qualifiers
EPT Season 10 online satellites start on Wednesday May 15 at 14.15 (ET) with a €1 freeze out satellite to the first event in Barcelona. Two full packages worth €8,300 are guaranteed. The regular schedule of EPT 10 satellites will begin in late May.
