Marco Andretti Favorite to Win 2013 Indy 500 With 5-1 Odds
Marco Andretti was coming in as the 5/1 odds-on favorite to win the 2013 Indy 500 at Sportsbook.com.
12 percent of those betting this weekend’s Inianapolis 500 were backing Andretti, the largest percentage of any other driver.
Four-time IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti has some of the best value out there, as explained by Gambling911.com’s own Carrie Stroup.
“Although he's starting 17th, Franchitti won this race from the 16th starting spot last year,” Stroup explains. “(and) even fell to 28th place after being bumped by E.J. Viso in pit row before pulling off his incredible comeback. And after bad luck kept the No. 10 car from finishing the first two races of the 2013 season, Franchitti has placed 4th and 7th in his past two starts.”

There is some value with Kanaan, according to Stroup, who notes that “will start one row back (12th) of where he began last year's race (8th), but with double-digit odds, the No. 11 car is certainly worth a look on Sunday.” She points out that Kanaan finished 3rd in last year’s Indy 500 and he has made a top 5 showing in his past 10 races on this track.

Stroup offers this bit of advise regarding Briscoe: “If you're looking for a darkhorse, take a chance by placing a unit wager on Briscoe. He was last year's Indy 500 pole-winner and parlayed that into a strong fifth-place showing. Although Briscoe will start his engine in Row 8 (23rd spot) on Sunday, he has always raced well in Indianapolis when he's avoided crashing.” His odds have actually gotten longer since Friday when they were 35/1.

An even better long shot to consider than Ryan Briscoe, suggests Stroup. “(he) has usually been near the front of the pack at this speedway, placing 10th, 11th in 12th in three of his four career starts at the Indy 500.” And this Sunday Tagliani is starting from an even better position at number 11.
