*Wife Lost in Poker Game - FAISALABAD, Pakistan: A man was arrested in Chiniot on Sunday shortly after he beat his wife allegedly for refusing to go with another man to whom he said he had lost her in a gamble.

The woman, a resident of Mohallah Ansarian, was taken to a hospital, where she was later reported to be out of danger.

Chiniot police said the man was a known drug addict and a gambler.

They said on Sunday he asked his wife to give him some money for gambling. Her refusal led to an argument, at the end of which he left home.

He returned a few hours later and told his wife that he had lost her in the gamble and that now she would have to go with the winner. She said instead she would leave him. Police said he then beat her up until she nearly fainted.  (source: Express Tribune)

*Nevada Regulators Urge Ban of Google Glass in Casinos - LAS VEGAS (Associated Press) — Regulators in Nevada are urging casinos to ban gamblers from wearing Google Glass, the tiny eyeglasses-mounted device capable of shooting photos, filming video and surfing the Internet.

The state Gaming Control Board issued a warning Monday saying the devices could be used to cheat at card games.

New Jersey regulators issued a similar anti-Glass directive last week.

Several Las Vegas casino operators, including Caesars Entertainment and MGM Resorts, have directed workers to ask gamblers to remove the devices if they suspect it is being used to secretly photograph or record.

Nevada regulators advise that the techie glasses should be banned outright on the gambling floor. They warn that the device can be used to share information among colluding card players.

*Firm Fights Bid to Dismiss Casino Lawsuit in Massachusetts - BOSTON (Associated Press) — A company that filed a federal lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of a provision in the state's casino gambling law that gave preference to a native American tribe in southeast Massachusetts is fighting the state's bid to dismiss the suit.

In a brief filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court, KG Urban Enterprise rejects the state's contention that the lawsuit is moot because the Massachusetts Gaming Commission recently voted to accept preliminary casino applications from commercial developers.

The company, which hopes to build a casino in New Bedford, said the commission continues to leave open the possibility of denying a license to any commercial developer in favor of a tribal casino.

The Mashpee Wampanoag tribe has proposed a resort casino in Taunton, but faces several hurdles including the need for federal approval of a land-in-trust application.

Caesars unit forming social poker development studio - Caesars Interactive Entertainment announced it was forming a social poker development studio to expand the free-to-play World Series of Poker game through its Playtika division.

The Montreal-based subsidiary of Caesars Entertainment, which owns the World Series of Poker brand, will add a social gaming format of the tournament to its free-to-play slot machine, casino game and bingo franchises. (Las Vegas Review Journal)
