In a sign that banks are beginning to embrace the online poker sector, it was revealed over the weekend that UltimatePoker.com has begun to accept Visa cards.

UltimatePoker.com to date is the first and only US-based online poker site licensed out of Nevada.

Gambling911.com first reported last month that Ultimate Poker had begun offering Mastercard as a deposit option, leaving one to wonder if this was the end of MCC 7995, a code used to determine "unlawful" Internet gambling transactions.

Why Join Americas Cardroom- 100 percent cash bonus up to $1000, the world's first progressive rake race, fastest payouts of any North American facing online poker room bar none, credit cards accepted, new depositor freerole, Bad Beat Jackpot, $100,000 guaranteed tournaments, sports betting available Learn More About Americas Cardroom Here

Visa continues to use banking code 7995, which identifies such transactions and the banks, up to this point, have had little interest in trying to figure out the so-called "good" online gambling sites (Ultimate Poker) from the "bad" (presumably any sites based outside the US that continue to accept customers from the States).  As a result, some banks are rejecting attempts from customers to deposit via Visa credit cards.

Several months ago Visa sent out a bulletin to its merchant customers that stated, in part, that “not all transactions coded with MCC 7995 are from unlawful internet gambling merchants”.  Essentially this means that in certain cases transactions that would otherwise have been automatically blocked may now be successfully processed, according to AmericaniGamingSolutions.com.
