3 percent of those who have placed NFL future bets to date are backing the Patriots.

The loss of Hernandez could have a significant impact on the Patriots.

To give some perspective, at the time Hernandez was drafted in 2010, he received the largest signing bonus of any tight end in NFL history.  Playing for Florida his college years, Hernandez was considered one of the best tight ends in the nation.

In the 2010 playoffs, Hernandez had the longest run of the postseason, a 42-yard run against the Denver Broncos on the Patriots' first offensive drive of the game. Hernandez led the Patriots to Super Bowl XLVI but the Patriots lost the game to the Giants 17-21.

Last season, Hernandez was sidelined for serval games with a high ankle sprain.  On December 10, during the Monday Night Football game against the Houston Texans, Hernandez recorded 8 receptions for 58 yards and two touchdowns.
