One of online poker’s biggest names, Daniel Cates, was one of the chip leaders ending Day 1b of the 2013 World Series of Poker.

Cates had the 3rd biggest stack by the end of Day 1b.

Another big name player among the top 20 chip leaders ending the Day 1b of the 2013 WSOP was Canadian Sorel Mizzi, who has amassed just shy of $8 million during his live poker career at the ripe old age of 27.

Also playing in Day 1b was someone nearly three times Mizzi’s senior, poker legend Doyle Brunson, who initially stated he would not be participating in this year’s Main Event.

Brunson managed to finish with over 80,000 chips after spending a day holding court on the feature table on the ESPN stage.  Brunson wasn’t the only past Main Event winner to make it through the day either.  Dan Harrington survived as well, as did Chris Moneymaker, who had to rally from a short stack in order to make it to the end of play.  Past Champs Scotty Nguyen and Greg Raymer were less fortunate, hitting the rail before the day concluded.

Moneymaker was so low on chips Sunday evening that Gambling911.com had him pegged to go busto before the night was over. Gone were 2008 WSOP Player of the Year Erick Lindgren, actor Brad Garrett, Greg Raymer, Erick Lingrend, David Bach, MMA star Georges St Pierre, John Monnette, and last year’s runner-up, Jesse Sylvia.
