The financially strapped Revel Casino in Atlantic City is ready to close its poker room.

John Brennan of the Bergen Record tweeted Monday:

Sources: Revel AC poker room will close in 2 weeks. Canceling all tournaments. Bad beat jackpots to be paid.

The Revel Casino is expected to shut its poker room down on August 15 though the closure could actually happen sooner.

The Revel is Atlantic City’s newest casino but has had difficulties competing with other properties, especially where its poker room is concerned.  The property has had to compete with the more popular Borgata poker room.

The news also comes at a time when Atlantic City casinos are prepared to begin offering poker for real money online.

As part of their bankruptcy filing this year, Revel announced that the casino's value had dropped from $2.4 billion to $450 million.
