Responding to the controversy over CNBC’s decision to air a sports handicapping reality series “Money Talks” based on something that arguably may not be reality at all, one of the more colorful Vegas sports handicappers blasted the network’s decision.

Wayne Root, who runs the sports handicapping service Winning Edge, tells Gambling911.com, “I'd say every single executive at CNBC should be fired immediately.”

Few in Vegas apparently have ever heard of the capper, Steve Stevens, who is profiled in “Money Talks”.  To make matters worse, Fox News reported Wednesday that Stevens had previously been convicted of a telemarketing scam that targeted elderly investors.

Root was once the NFL Oddsmaker for the Financial News Network, which later became CNBC.  He was also the US Vice Presidential nominee on the 2008 Libertarian ticket.

Root expressed outrage over CNBC’s decision to develop a reality series around a convicted sports handicapper he has never even heard of.

“I started my career as a national TV anchorman, host of five shows, and Network NFL Oddsmaker for Financial News Network which became CNBC,” Root boasted.  “A few years back my life was profiled by CNBC.  I later became the first sports handicapper to run for President if United States and won the Vice Presidential nomination.

“Yet when they decided to create a reality show about sports gambling and follow a colorful sports handicapper, CNBC chose a man no one in Vegas has EVER heard of...who was in prison for bilking elderly victims?

Root added:  “This could be worst judgment in the history of television. And that's saying a lot.”
