The Cowboys Super Bowl odds for 2014 were listed at 40/1 at Carbon Sports.

Chris Burke of Sports Illustrated take on the Cowboys chances for a Super Bowl run:

Because they were tight up against the salary cap all offseason, Dallas made minimal additions outside the draft — Justin Durant and Allen being the team’s only two significant free-agent pickups. The Cowboys instead will hang their hats on better performances from their stars, like QB Tony Romo and RB DeMarco Murray, and a switch from a 3-4 to a 4-3 defense under new coordinator Monte Kiffin leading to results. They should hang in the NFC East all season, yet again. Beyond that? Well, it would be false to say that the Cowboys look better than either the Giants or Redskins right now.

As far as the schedule goes, Gambling911.com has previously offered up an interesting assessment.

Dallas could actually start the season off 4-0 as they host the New York Giants in Week 1 followed by games against three teams that played under .500 last season (Kansas City, San Diego and St. Louis).  Should they fail to go four straight, chances are Cowboys fans will be in for a very long season.

The first 10 weeks offer up only two games that Dallas will likely be a 6-point or larger underdog (Denver and New Orleans).  Assuming Philadelphia and Detroit remain mediocre, these are additional games the Cowboys can win on the road.

This is a dangerous situation for the NFC East with Dallas having an opportunity to advance quickly if we are to assume they’ve tweaked things even slightly.
