Harry Reid Says MLB Should Let Pete Rose Into Hall of Fame

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) on Monday proclaimed that disgraced former Major League Baseball player Pete Rose should be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The league imposed a lifelong ban from Baseball on Rose, the all-time hits leader, for his gambling on sports nearly 24 years ago.

Reid, a former boxer, made his comments during an interview with the Reno Gazette.

"He has been punished enough.  He [Rose] has been [punished] for years. … He bet when he was a manager of a team. Games were lost. All that stuff. But he’s been punished enough. He is one of the great baseball players of all time. He didn’t take drugs, so yes; I think he should be in.”

Rose has been featured prominently in the press over the past two weeks in the wake of the scandal involving Yankees player Alex Rodriguez, who the league accused of having used performance enhancement drugs against MLB policy.

The outspoken former Cincinnati Reds player even went as far as to suggest during a radio appearance he would have received less of a punishment for beating his wife.
