Poker Pro Matt Savage Released From Hospital in Wheel Chair: Avoids Paralysis

One of the most recognized faces in poker today, Matt Savage, was released from a hospital Thursday evening and thanked all the well-wishers for their support and prayers.

Savage underwent urgent cervical stenosis surgery after an MRI revealed three severely pinched nerves in his back.  If left untreated, Savage would almost certainly have become paralyzed.

Cervical stenosis is a slowly progressive condition that pinches the spinal cord in the neck.  The poker pro suffered the injury a few weeks back after slamming his head on a waterslide.

He tweeted Thursday:

Just out of hospital, thanks you guys have been awesome with the well wishes, next stop home!
