The books were hurt by Bama’s covering the 22.5 point spread Saturday against Virginia Tech.  They also got pounded by LSU covering the 6-point spread against TCU with a 10-point win.

These were two of the most heavily wagered on sides of Week 1 College Football.

The good news is that a Clemson win against Georgia and Ohio State’s failure to cover against Buffalo helped spare the books a full fledged disaster.

Over the past several days the oddsmakers tried desperately to move the line up in both the Alabama-VTech and LSU-TCU games in an effort to drive more action towards the dog.

Overall, it wasn’t the best day for the books but it could have been far worse.  Oklahoma State covering a 13 point spread against Mississippi State also favored the public.
