Paddy Power, the UK’s third largest bookmaker, is sponsoring former NBA star Dennis Rodman’s trip to North Korea.  It is Rodman’s second trip to the “Hermit Kingdom” in so many months.

Rodman says he is there to visit his new “friend”, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, where the two will discuss starting a new Basketball league in the country.

Earlier in the year, upon Rodman’s return from North Korea, that nation had threatened to annihilate the United States with nuclear weapons.

There has been some speculation that Rodman could assist in getting

Korean-American detainee Kenneth Bae released from prison while there. Rodman has denied such reports.

“I’m not going to North Korea to discuss freeing Kenneth Bae,” Rodman said in an interview with Reuters News Agency. “I’m just going there on another basketball diplomacy tour.”

Rodman’s sponsor, Paddy Power, is known for its off-the-wall marketing campaigns that include sending the Hall of Fame NBA inductee to the Vatican to encourage wagering on the next Pope.
