67 percent of those betting this game were backing Mexico but these were the numbers coming out of Europe.  In the US, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that those numbers were skewed slightly more in Team USA’s favor.  The odds were around the same.

USA just lost to Costa Rica Friday night.  They had been sitting atop the CONCACAF standings with a 4-1-1 record and 13 points.  A win in Costa Rica would have punched Team USA's ticket to a seventh straight World Cup.

Mexico fired their coach Monday after a home loss to Honduras.  They were in third place heading into that game.
