Current line: Florida -16 / Over & Under at 47 ½

Time:  Saturday, September 21, 3:30 pm (EST) CBS

In order to look into the Tennessee Volunteers and Florida Gators game, we must first go back to last season. All storied rivalries start with the past, and here we have to go back where ESPN was hosting their national NCAA show on the campus of the Florida Gators team. The Volunteers, for all intents and purposes should have knocked out the Gators, they should have made a statement, and the first half was stellar, and leading into the second half, things were starting to gel for them, and then things started to drop off, and the second half was just tumultuous to say the least. The second half blown score and lead, would eventually be the start of the end for one Derek Dooley.

This year around, things are different, the University of Tennessee has a new feel, but then again, they got pummeled by Oregon. They have definitely had time to recover and will look like a much different squad against Florida, but the Gators are going into this game solid and definitely good overall. The series amongst these teams is all Florida, with 9 consecutive wins against the Volunteers.

The Volunteers have a tendency to get sloppy in defense. They tend to slow down and communication can be stifled on the field, which is something that was seen against Oregon. If the same thing happens against Florida, you can expect the score to turn lopsided very fast.

On the Florida side, look for them to try and confuse the secondary, and do their best to fight for a win here, even if it means trying new formations or lots of misdirection. They Gators do so many things well that they may have the edge here, even though the Volunteers should be on the rise.

The Match Up:

Jeff Driskel is the guy to watch out for in this one. If he can lead the team and stop penalties as well as cheap giveaways, look for a blow out to ensue. He is definitely a leader and can throw, and run but if they play like they did against Miami, than they aren’t going to make it against the Volunteers, who are hungry to win one in Florida. All they have to do is play perfectly, no turnovers, no fumbles, to cheap takeaways, and that’s it. If they can manage that, they are solid. It’s too hard to not go with Florida in this one, and even though Tennessee has upside, we’re going with -16 for the Gators.

The Edge:

Our pick is Florida – 16.

SportsCashSystem.com Prediction: Florida – 16
