Price Per Head Baseball Betting - Now We Have THREE Wild Card Games

Frankly, could it get any better than this for all the PPH bettors out there? The Major League Baseball playoffs, which already had a one-off, single-game, winner-take-all wild card game to see who advanced to the next round, will now have a one-game playoff to get into THAT round.

Even though it has been done in virtual secrecy, with unusually low attendance, the Cleveland Indians have clinched one of the two wild card sports in the American League. But that's here it stops being simple. The Tampa Bay Rays and Texas Rangers are actually tied for the second wild card spot. And that means a Monday night showdown, which one of these teams must get by before they go to the NEXT showdown, where the Indians will be waiting for them on Wednesday (8 P ET) on TBS.

They're calling it the "AL Tiebreaker Game," which we trust they didn't make up on the fly, and it begins at 8 PM ET tonight in Arlington.

There is some drama to be had for baseball bettors at WagerHome.com, as the game matches up a rookie against the reigning Cy Young Award winner in the mound duel.

Martin Perez didn't handle himself like a rookie. He was 10-5 with a 3.55 on the season, and he won seven of his last nine decisions. There is no lack of confidence in this kid on the part of the Rangers. And if you remember two years ago, Tampa Bay's Joe Maddon went with a less experienced rookie pitcher in Matt Moore, who was nothing less than masterful in a 9-0 Rays win in the American League Championship Series.

Maddon goes with a more experienced guy in this particular case. David Price, who captured last year's Cy Young after winning 20 games, has not had a great season, but his 3.39 ERA indicates that he should have better than a 9-8 record. In Rangers Ballpark, where this game will be played, he has a 10.26 ERA in three starts.

In the Price Per Head baseball line that is currently being used at WagerHome.com,, the Rays are a -118 favorite on the road (Rangers are -102). The total on the game is 7.5 runs.

The rest of the playoff field is set.

The division winners are the Atlanta Braves in the NL East, who amassed the best record in the NL; the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central; and the Los Angeles Dodgers, who looked like a major disappointment earlier in the season, then came on like gangbusters to win the NL West by eleven games. The two wild card teams are the Cincinnati Reds and the Pittsburgh Pirates, who will meet up in their own one-game playoff on Tuesday at 8 PM ET on TBS. .

WagerHome.com customers know that even if the Pirates get eliminated in this "Queen for a Day" role, this is their first post-season action in 21 years, which has to make the franchise feel good.

And they will host this game, sending Francisco Liriano out to the mound against Johnny Cueto. Liriano had an outstanding season, going 16-8 with a 3.02 ERA, but he was roughed up a bit in his last start, giving up four runs and eight hits in five innings of work. Cueto has been pretty tough to hit in most of his starts, and has posted a 5-2 record with a WHIP ratio of 1.06. But he spent three months on the disabled list before returning just recently.

Since coming back, he's gone twelve innings and given up just one earned run. He's also had six full days of rest after throwing 99 pitches against the Mets. Liriano is 8-1 with a 1.47 ERA at home this year, so the Pirates are justifiably the baseball betting favorites at -130. The total on the game as it is posted at WagerHome.com,  is 6.5 runs.

In the American League, the Boston Red Sox were decisive champions in the AL East, leaving the Rays in their wake, not to mention the fading Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees. The Detroit Tigers won the AL Central, holding off the surging Indians. The Oakland Athletics won the AL West by five games over the Rangers, chalking up another one for the supposed "have-nots."

All three of the American League wild card entrants closed with a rush. They had to. Cleveland won its last ten games to escape having to play the EXTRA extra game. And yes, as we discussed last week for those users of the superior sportsbook software at WagerHome.com,, they did feast on opposition that may not have been top shelf. They swept the White Sox, Twins and Astros down the home stretch, and watched while Tampa Bay had to navigate its way through the Yankees and Orioles, after splitting with the Rangers of course, who themselves got some help by having three games with the Astros and four with the disappointing Angels, winning all of them after going through a winless homestand that took them out of the division race.
