This Saturday the Virginia Tech Hokies will play the North Carolina Tar Heels in what should be an interesting matchup. Last year Virginia Tech didn’t exactly have the best moves against a UNC team that beat them in Chapel Hill, but this year is different, making this game an interesting one to watch out for.

The game should be interesting, with a lot of running done from the fast paced Virginia Tech side. Look for North Carolina’s defense to step up to the challenge, however, putting in a great deal of work overall. The Hokies are 4 – 1 right now and they are going to be looking to exact a measure of revenge from last year’s loss, so this one could easily turn into a great, high scoring match up.

The most important thing for the North Carolina team to do is make sure that they are putting a great deal of pressure on Logan Thomas. If they manage to do that, they will in fact get an edge, otherwise, it is going to be all Virginia Tech. The good thing going for North Carolina is that the Hokies have a lousy kicking game, which means that they will be able to take advantage of special teams and many other issues that Virginia Tech keeps dealing with. It’s those misses and issues that will definitely help the Tar Heels do a little better, that is if they can play a good overall cohesive game.

The Match Up:

On paper this one is easy to note, with Virginia Tech’s surging offense, and their good overall defense. The Tar Heels aren’t exactly blowing out teams, so you’re not going to see them throw around the Hokies here. However, they may be able to make enough adjustments to stun the Virginia Tech squad, and that’s what will make this one interesting to watch. Look for Bryn Renner, Eric Ebron, and others on offense, making some plays and scoring when it counts. That alone should be intriguing enough to get some interest. Even with that, look for Virginia Tech – 7 ½.
