While New Jersey prepares to begin allowing online gambling by the end of next month, European powerhouse Betfair has mostly been left out in the cold.

Despite not having a license to operate in the Garden State at this time, Betfair will begin its LetsPlayNJ.com campaign.  The site is designed to build a mailing list of potential gambling customers in New Jersey.

Betfair, the largest betting exchange in Europe, may not have to wait long for a license to be issued as it is widely rumored they entered into a partnership with Atlantic City’s Trump Plaza.

On its site, Betfair issued this notice:

“The future availability of Internet gaming services on Betfair.com in New Jersey is contingent and conditioned upon the issuance of all necessary approvals … including, but not limited to, all approvals, licenses and permits required by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.”

To date, only the Borgata has received a permit to offer online gambling in New Jersey.
