The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has released policies as they apply to online gambling marketing and promotions in the Garden State.

Certain marketing activities will be prohibited.  This includes bonus and promotional offers it deems to be unfair to the gambling public.  Time restrictions will be placed on certain bonus offers.

The state will permit the common practice already offered online whereby certain wagering requirements must be met before a customer can claim his or her cash bonus. Winnings, however, cannot be capped once the requirement is achieved.

The Division will allow the patron’s deposit to be utilized ahead of other funds that might be wagered.  However, the Division advises that, because this type of marketing and bonus program differs from that offered by physical casinos in New Jersey, they should be introduced over time.

These programs will not be permitted until the very end of December, 30 days after real money online gambling launches in the state.  Even at this time, operators must be able to demonstrate the ability to generate accurate revenue reports.  Additional marketing programs can be introduced after a specified period of operation.

Patrons may also cancel acceptance to an offer whereby operators will be prohibited from retaining any of the funds deposited by said customer.
