Gambling911.com has been reporting on the countless number of betting props for this year's Super Bowl but how about sinking your teeth into this one? A 2009 Super Bowl gambling prop on which player will be arrested first (before or after the big game)?
Say what?
That's exactly what the folks at BetUS.com have conjured up.
You can bet on four Arizona Cardinals and one Pittsburgh Steeler player.
Hmmmm....doesn't seem fair, does it?
BetUS.com's Charles Jay explains:
"Let's explore. You wouldn't figure Larry Fitzgerald (5/1 in BetUS odds) to be the kind of player who had a lot of off-the-field problems, but just recently he was ordered by a judge to keep his distance from his own 11-month-old son and the Oakland Raider cheerleader he knocked up, who said that during an altercation at his Phoenix home, Fitzgerald "grabbed me by my hair with both hands on the back of my head very very hard and tossed me across the room." Of course, she hit him in the face first to get things started. The child, a boy, was there to see all of it. And the baby mama was missing some hair at the end of it. If she manages to stay out of Tampa this week, that will reduce Fitzgerald's chances of coming out the "winner" here. So Angela Nazario will likely be watching the game at home. Will she throw vegetables at the TV set?
"Evident by his argument with Cards' offensive coordinator Todd Haley on Sunday as Arizona was trying to drive for the winning score, Anquan Boldin (5/2 in BetUS odds) may put his own interests ahead of the team, but that is not enough to get him arrested. There would appear to be no doubt he is a malcontent."
The other three players with odds to be arrested before or immediately following the 2009 Super Bowl were Matt Leinart at 10/1 odds and J.J. Arington at 2/1 odds. Santonio Holmes was also listed with 2/1 odds.
"Santonio Holmes got busted for marijuana possession in October," Jay points out. "Big deal. That shouldn't even be illegal. It doesn't compare with hair pulling, assault, shooting someone, shooting your wife, murder, or any of a number of things NFL players could be accused of. In fact, I think Roger Goodell has issued a decree to the Tampa police that no one is to be jailed for pot possession before the Super Bowl."
